Start Songwriting and Producing
This page is designed to share some of my insights into how I've been transitioning from a bass player, in a band setting, to a music producer and songwriter. If I can do it, so can you!
Ableton: Get Started Making Music:
Ableton has a wonderful website in which you can learn the very basics of composing music through midi. What's really useful about this site is that if you come up with some cool ideas, you can even export your ideas into a Live set that you can open in Ableton to continue composing.
Hack Music Theory:
I've always found theory to be very boring and tedious. If you're anything like me, I recommend you check out Revolution Harmony on YouTube. They teach music theory in a completely notation free way! I highly recommend you check out their Apprenticeship Program as well. It was eye opening to see the different hacks and approaches to building a song from the ground up.
Autochords:
Autochords is a very useful website in helping you learn to use major and minor progressions and triads in your music. Unfortunately, it doesn't include any of the other musical modes, but it is FREE to use!
Production Masters:
Here are a few YouTube rock stars that have posted some amazing tutorials that you can watch for free on YouTube!
